Check if the on/hard drive light is on. If it is, the computer is on and the problem is somewhere else. Check the power connection on the back of the computer and make sure it's plugged into the computer securely. Then check that it's plugged into the surge protector/power strip securely. Check that the surge protector/power strip is on. Then check that it is plugged into the wall securely.
